Enjoy a summer sailing through the Mediterranean onboard of Candida
Are you ready to cruise the Mediterranean in style this summer? As waterways across the yachting hotspots of the West Med and East Med begin to open up again, many yachtsmen and yachtswomen are already planning their summer 2021 getaways. But what better way to explore the sun-drenched Amalfi Coast or the glamorous French Riviera than onboard a timeless and classic yacht? For the true gentleman or gentlewoman looking to spend an unforgettable summer season by the Mediterranean, a classic yacht is the only transportation mode. And what is more traditional than the iconic wooden sailing yacht Candida?
One of the last of the great 23m Class Racing Yachts, the 39.65m Candida, was built by Camper & Nicholson to the International Rule in 1929. Together with Cambria and Astra, she is a renowned addition to the Mediterranean classic yacht circuit. Kept in a pristine state over the years, she was later converted to the J Class rule in 1996 and has competed against leading yachts such as Endeavour, Velsheda, and Shamrock V. Still able to compete and hold her own in regattas, this unique sailing yacht is one of the last few remaining Charles Nicholsons design of her size in existence. Her solid construction remains a true and tested testament to the quality of build of vessels from that period, and due to her unrivalled upkeep, she is just as fast, nimble and stylish as she was in the early 1930s.
When you step onboard Candida, you may feel like you’ve transported back in time, but don’t let her age fool you. Her mahogany construction has been maintained to the highest standards, as have her teak decks. Able to welcome four overnight guests in two cabins and a crew of 7, she is perfect for summertime sailing through the Ionian Islands or the Dalmatian coastline. Her stunning interior, which underwent a refit in 2017, includes a main salon complete with a dining area and coffee table that can comfortably sit up to six guests.
The master cabin features two comfortable large single beds, a skylight and en suite bathroom facilities, while the twin guest cabin offers similar comfortable amenities. Family and friends are sure to love the cosy and authentic atmosphere created onboard Candida, thanks to her wood panelling, iconic palette and plush carpeting. As a stunning, floating historic vessel, the draw of owning and sailing such an original racing icon is incomparable, especially to a more recently built replica.
Sure to turn heads wherever she will go, due to her size and class, the experience Candida offers on deck as well as below is unique, calling back to the charms and appeal of a bygone era, with the allure of a life spent at sea but with all the modern-day comforts and amenities one could ever need. Together with loved ones, you are sure to create lifelong memories sailing through the Mediterranean onboard Candida. So why not relive the wonderful heydays of the early 1930s and sail across the Med this summer in luxury and style onboard Candida?
